The Social Fund Crisis Loan section is a part of the Department for Work and Pensions and as such follows the same opening times. DWP offices are generally open between 8 amd and 5 pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays and other public holidays.

When the Crisis Loan section is closed on a bank holiday, or due to the weekend is is possible to apply to the out of hourse service, this is done by contacting your local police stations ( you have to actually turn up and do this in person- as they are generally open on a bank holiday) and they will seek out and contact the relevent out of hours crisis loan section for your area, with a view to securin gyou a crisis loan on the same day to try to aleviate any potential risk to your health and safety, or the health and safety of your family.

Finding help in a crisis on a bank holiday can be a nightmare, however most towns and cities have  several services taht you can contact to ask for some support, these include Social services, charitable organisations, religious organisations, and also the police by if you are unable to get any help from any of these places it may be left to your friends and family.
