This site is not, and has never intentionally tried to appear affiliated with the DWP.
This site was build in 2010 as a blog, and documented my own experiences with the Social Fund after having lost my job and finding that I was unable to cope whilst benefit was assessed.
The site contained a handful of pages giving information that I had found from trustworthy sources, and that I felt were difficult to find otherwise. This was with a view to helping others get the help that they needed without going around in the same circles as I had.
Within 5 moths the number of comments on the site, and several requests led to a forum being created, however the demand was far too great for me to manage and I asked regular contributors to take on the running of the site.
After the 1st year of the site being online, i decided to seek the help of researchers and article writers who would be able to answer questions posed in real time, based on information that they were more used to searching for on the net. This approach led to costs being incurred and me and the other admins looked at ways to pay for this help.
On looking back through the stats of what people had searched for, and also the type of queries being asked we decided that we could provide a set of pages SPECIFICALLY for those who were WORKING, and who would find it difficult to meet the crisis loan criteria.
This was done by commissioning reviews of the best payday lenders, and selecting the top 5 of those to feature on the site, of those 4 lenders offered a commission for approved applications, and this was used to pay researchers.
Given the strict lending criteria, it was clear that NONE of the people that who were visiting the site, who were on benefits would qualify, clear messages were posted on each page reflecting this.
Given the reaction that using affiliate marketing received, we have decided not to offer any further reviews, and have removed all previously published reviews.
We are in the process of removing all advice that was bought by the site from non-expert freelance writers, leaving only factual information that we hope will be of use to those who see the site in the future.
We would appreciate any constructive comments, advice or help in making this site useful to those who may need it.
